Our Professional Rug Cleaning Process

Each rug is evaluated before cleaning so the process can be adjusted for fiber type, construction, condition, soil level, staining and odor concerns. This inspection-first approach helps us determine whether a rug is best suited for standard cleaning, deodorization, protective treatment or restorative evaluation. Rug Cleaning from a team that cares.

Inspection and Fiber Considerations

Area rugs can contain natural or synthetic fibers, dyes, fringe, backing materials and construction methods that react differently to moisture and cleaning chemistry. We consider these details before beginning work and note areas of concern such as pet contamination, spills, wear, prior damage and color instability.

  1. Inspection & Testing – Evaluate the rug and determine the cleaning approach.
  2. Dry Soil Removal – Remove loose soil, dust and debris.
  3. Pre-Treatment & Cleaning – Apply appropriate solutions and agitation.
  4. Rinsing & Extraction – Thoroughly rinse and extract soil and residues.
  5. Controlled Drying – Dry in a controlled environment.
  6. Final Inspection & Grooming – Inspect and groom before return.

Controlled Cleaning and Drying

After dry soil removal, the rug is cleaned using an approach appropriate for its material and condition. Rinsing and extraction are used to remove loosened soil and cleaning residues, followed by controlled drying. Proper drying is especially important for wool and other absorbent fibers because excess moisture can affect odor, texture and overall appearance.

Final Inspection Before Return

Once the rug is dry, we perform a final inspection and grooming before return. If a stain, odor, dye issue, wear pattern or structural condition limits the final result, we prefer to explain that clearly rather than create unrealistic expectations. The goal is careful cleaning, dependable service and clear communication from intake through return.

How CT Rug Spa Chooses the Right Rug Cleaning Method

Every rug is different. Before cleaning, CT Rug Spa considers fiber type, construction, dye stability, soil level, stains, odors, pet contamination and the overall condition of the rug. That inspection helps us choose a cleaning method that is thorough while respecting the rug’s materials and construction.

Surface Cleaning for Lightly Soiled or Sensitive Rugs

Some rugs do not require full immersion. Lightly soiled, well-maintained or moisture-sensitive rugs may be better suited to a controlled surface-cleaning process. This can be appropriate for certain synthetic rugs, latex-backed rugs, rayon, cotton-faced rugs and other pieces where excessive moisture or aggressive agitation may create unnecessary risk.

Low-Moisture and Specialty Cleaning

Delicate rugs, unstable dyes, weakened fibers, texture concerns or unusual construction may call for a lower-moisture or specialty approach. The goal is to remove soil as safely as possible while reducing the chance of color movement, distortion or damage to fragile areas.

Full Rug Washing

When a rug’s construction, fibers and dyes allow it, a more thorough wash can provide deeper soil removal. Rugs are inspected, dry soil is removed, appropriate cleaning solutions are used, and the rug is carefully rinsed before controlled drying. The exact process is adjusted to the rug rather than forcing every rug through the same treatment.

Pet Urine and Odor Decontamination

Severe pet contamination often requires more than routine cleaning. Urine can migrate deep into the pile, foundation and backing of a rug. Depending on the rug and the level of contamination, CT Rug Spa may recommend extended flushing, odor-focused treatment and additional cleaning cycles to remove as much contamination as the rug can safely tolerate. Restorative treatment is evaluated individually because heavily contaminated rugs can require substantially more labor and treatment.

Controlled Drying

Proper drying is a critical part of professional rug care. After cleaning and rinsing, rugs are dried under controlled conditions to reduce prolonged moisture exposure and help protect fibers, foundation materials, texture and appearance.

Wool, Oriental, Persian, Antique and Silk Rug Evaluation

Specialty and delicate rugs receive individual attention before cleaning. Dye stability, fiber type, fringe, foundation, prior damage and construction are considered so the cleaning method can be adjusted to the specific rug. CT Rug Spa does not assume that every rug should be cleaned the same way.

Rug Cleaning Packages & Pricing

Pricing is based on rug size and the cleaning package selected. Specialty, delicate or heavily contaminated rugs may require an individual evaluation. Package recommendations are based on the rug’s condition and the type of treatment needed rather than simply choosing the highest-priced option.

Choosing the Right Rug Cleaning Package

Standard cleaning is appropriate for routine soil removal on qualifying rugs. Clean & Deodorize adds odor-focused treatment, while Premium Rug Cleaning includes cleaning, deodorizing and protective treatment. Restorative Rug Cleaning is reserved for rugs with severe urine contamination, heavy odor, difficult soil conditions or other circumstances that require additional evaluation.

*$165 service minimum
